Science + the Bible:
Do I have to choose?
“Humanity should accept that science has eliminated the justification for believing in cosmic purpose, and that any survival of purpose is inspired only by sentiment.”
Peter Atkins, Oxford Chemistry Professor
Christians today just don’t know what to do with science. Militant atheists such as Oxford Chemistry Professor, Peter Atkins repeatedly tell us that Christianity has always been superstitious, anti-science and, well, intellectually bankrupt. Humanity would be much better off it we could just let go of our belief in God and embrace the hard truths of science.
And yet, are science and Christianity really incompatible? As Christians, do we need to choose one or the other? But if not, then how do we answer some of the big questions surrounding Science and Faith, such as:
Who were Adam and Eve?
How did the universe begin?
How do we approach Evolution?
How do we think about bioethical and biomedical issues such as AI, Transhumanism, Euthanasia, and genetic modification?
These are just a few of the (fun) questions that this class is going to explore.
