Tuesday Night Class

Tuesday Night Class

Science + the Bible:
Do I have to choose?

“Humanity should accept that science has eliminated the justification for believing in cosmic purpose, and that any survival of purpose is inspired only by sentiment.”
Peter Atkins, Oxford Chemistry Professor

Christians today just don’t know what to do with science. Militant atheists such as Oxford Chemistry Professor, Peter Atkins repeatedly tell us that Christianity has always been superstitious, anti-science and, well, intellectually bankrupt. Humanity would be much better off it we could just let go of our belief in God and embrace the hard truths of science.

And yet, are science and Christianity really incompatible? As Christians, do we need to choose one or the other? But if not, then how do we answer some of the big questions surrounding Science and Faith, such as:

  • Who were Adam and Eve?

  • How did the universe begin?

  • How do we approach Evolution?

  • How do we think about bioethical and biomedical issues such as AI, Transhumanism, Euthanasia, and genetic modification?

These are just a few of the (fun) questions that this class is going to explore.

When: Tuesdays, April 2 - May 30 (off on April 16)
Time: 7 pm - 8:30 pm
Where: CA Church Mariner Campus

This class is offered both in person and by Zoom.

Mission of the Month - Child Sponsorship

This May our mission of the month is Child Sponsorship in the Copper Canyon.

Our church has partnered with Tarahumara Ministries in Mexico for over 15 years. There are now close to 100 children who live at the Guacayvo Boarding school/Orphanage – ranging from 3 to 16 years old, with more arriving on a regular basis. Many of the children who attend the school come from situations of extreme poverty. Through sponsorship you are able to connect with a child in need. Your sponsorship not only provides the essentials of life to a child, but more importantly, it relays a consistent form of hope to a child who feels your love and prayers. You are reminding a child that God loves them and they are not alone. Thanks to you, the children at Guacayvo now receive clean water, nutritious food, medical care, clothing, education and spiritual nurture. The gift of your sponsorship is life changing, providing not only hope for the future, but offering your child compassion, respect and the opportunity to experience the love of Christ.

This February our mission of the month is Villages of Hope, Africa.

VOH is one of our Global Partners and their desire is to bring lasting hope to orphans and vulnerable children. They do this by providing them with the basic necessities of education, nutrition, shelter and healthcare. VOH currently has 10 centres located throughout 5 countries of Africa.

For many years, we as a church, have partnered specifically with the countries of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. In Tanzania and Zambia we help to facilitate a feeding program for school age children, and in Zimbabwe facilitate a feeding program as well as work alongside VOH to support the centre and local church . In our partnership we desire to reach those in most desperate need of hearing the good news of Jesus .

This 8 hour experiential workshop is for men & women who want to learn how to better understand themselves so that they can effectively identify, track and ultimately correct the problem areas in their day to day lives and relationships.

This experiential training known as the HEAL, LIVE, LOVE process, serves as a guide to teach participants how to HEAL yesterday, LIVE today and LOVE tomorrow and is specifically designed to empower you to live a healthier life both personally and relationally.

In about 8 hours individuals will discover their toxic, negative and at times disabling patterns. All the things that seem to be conspiring against you, holding you back from enjoying the personal fulfillment and relationship success you are looking for and deserve.

What’s in it for you?

1. A safe place to open up and heal from what’s been holding you back

2. Tools to move past the hurts, hang-ups, and learned negative patterns

3. Move past the anger, resentment, shame, blame and bitterness

Join us for our marriage conference as we learn to address root causes of relationship challenges and how we can effectively heal, live, and love tomorrow.
